Consumer Guide to Online Privacy

Confused about the difference between Public and Private? Do you read the Privacy Settings on all the websites you visit? Do your kids tell you that their Social Networking Site is safe because it’s PRIVATE? It is confusing and we all need to be more diligent and protect ourselves and our families online.
Debra Berlyn is President of Consumer Policy Solutions, a firm centered on developing public policies addressing the interests of consumers and the marketplace. She currently serves as the chairperson for the Federal Communications Commission Consumer Advisory Committee and is a member of the Board of Directors of the National Consumers League. Ms. Berlyn has been working on online safety and privacy issues to increase awareness about how consumers can protect themselves and their information online. Labeled as a national voice on the issue of online safety and a regular guest on radio talk shows, Ms. Berlyn heads a Consumer Privacy Awareness Project.
