Missouri Summit on Child Exploitation

INOBTR took part in the Missouri Summit on Child Exploitation. We met in the state’s capital with representatives of law enforcement, child advocacy centers, MO Safe Schools, MOREnet, MO Department of Public Safety and other organizations involved in Internet Safety which led to animated discussions of where we are in Missouri and where we still need to go. For the second year, Summit attendees tackled the tough question of Child Exploitation as it exists today and what we need to do to combat this problem. The Summit was started in 2007 by then Senator John Loudon (R-District 7) and continued this year, led by Lt. Joe Laramie, MO-Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force.

Attendees to the Summit divided into groups to discuss

Training  *  Investigation  *  Forensics  *  Prosecution  *  Prevention/Education

The findings of this Summit are being formulated into a white paper that will be shared with lawmakers and various Missouri state department representatives.

In February, the INOBTR website reached its highest number of hits in one month, the day before its two year anniversary. We’ve made a commitment to update the website at least weekly and more users are coming back to see what is new. The website continues to be a place to find current information, tips and resources. We continue to pull from experts in the field and to share news as it is happening.
