Windsor Freshmen Attack Cyberbullying

Windsor Freshmen Attack Cyberbullying

Windsor High School took a group of six 9th grade students to the CyberSummit held at Lindenwood University on April 1.  The group had the great opportunity to hear Tina Meier speak about her daughter Megan and learn about the tragic incident that occurred due to Cyberbullying.  After listening to Tina speak, the six students split up and got to participate in breakout sessions.  After the CyberSummit, the group of six students came back to school and began to plan a presentation that they were going to give to their freshmen class.  On April 9th, the students held an assembly with their entire freshmen class present.  Each of the six students got up in front of the group of 200+ and discussed everything that they had learned from the workshop that they attended.  They began the presentation going over results of the bullying survey they had their class take prior to the presentation.  They re-told the Megan Meier story, defined what cyberbullying is and discussed the new cyberbullying law.  They showed videos that addressed Cybersafety and just how easy it is for anyone to find out personal information about you online.  The group is committed to getting the word out there, and this is the first of many things that they have planned to help put an end to Cyberbullying.
